Each year, hundreds of students from various regions around the world fly to Singapore to attend one of the most intense, fierce and professional Model UN conferences of the MUN calendar: THIMUN Singapore. Being one of the biggest MUN conferences in Asia, THIMUN Singapore is filled with students of different abilities and skills, all interacting with one another to come up with best solutions to the each issue, or to produce the most cleverly written article in the newsletters that are passed out to everyone each day. However, even one of the best conferences has to come to an end. After five days of vigorous work, everyone – student officers, admins, delegates, press members, all alike – has to head back home and back to their normal student lives, where arguments and debates don’t take up most of their days. Tear-filled eyes and warm hugs shared among people can be seen all around as they leave their conference rooms one last time, wishing they could go back in time and experience the whole thing all over again. As people look back at the days filled with heated arguments and friendly interactions, their minds are in turmoil – full of excitement that they get to head back home, but also full of sorrow that they have to leave everything behind. THIMUN Singapore has paved a way for everyone attending the conference to turn strangers into close friends, practice their debating skills, and expand their social circles; it is undoubtedly heartbreaking to head back home.
